A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PSC MASTER EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
UN MESSAGE DE VOTRE CONSEIL EXÉCUTIF PRINCIPAL PSC

November 21, 2024

Fellow pilots,

Board Of Directors Meeting

Your MEC Vice-Chair, Mateo, recently joined ALPA representatives from across the U.S. and Canada at the Association's 50th Board of Directors meeting in Chicago, representing over 78,000 pilots.

This five-day event, held every two years, brings together representatives from all the LECs, MECs, Executive Councils, and Executive Board to discuss critical agenda items and ensure ALPA remains a pilot-driven, staff-supported organization, with voices from all properties contributing to the association's collective success.

During the session, your representative participated in various committee meetings, reviewing 25 agenda items. These included elections for Executive Vice President (EVP), and Canada’s two EVP roles were awarded to Capt. Stu Jones of Air Canada, representing Air Canada, and Capt. James Harding of Wasaya Airways, representing Canadian ALPA air carriers excluding Air Canada. We want to extend our congratulations to both of them.

In addition, Air Canada appointed Capt. Gilles Boissonneault, a new vice president of the Canada Board, to succeed Capt. Rod Lypchuk will soon retire after 36 years with Jazz, including over 32 years of union involvement and contributions to IFALPA (International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations). We want to congratulate Gilles and wish Rod a wonderful retirement.

You can learn more about ALPA's agenda and the work continuously being done on ALPA's website. BOD meeting minutes and related information can be found here as well.

Negotiations Committee

Your MEC has been at the table for the following Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations. We are optimistic about achieving, alongside the employer, a CBA that would better reflect the overdue value of Pascan's pilots in terms of compensation and quality of life. A new negotiations team was assembled since your MEC's representatives were appointed, aiming to assess and prioritize corrections and enhancements for the upcoming CBA. We look forward to finalizing the negotiations on a good note and doing so before the end of the year. Our next meeting is scheduled to take place on December 5th, 2024. Pilots interested in joining this effort (or any other) can express their interest by communicating with your MEC reps.

Jumpseat Committee

During your MEC's work in the BOD meeting, we established connections and learned about ALPA's resources regarding pilot commuting benefits. This led us to officially formalize and start working on our Jumpseat Committee.

We would like to introduce and thank Cecile Serilas for her willingness to serve as your newly appointed Jumpseat Chair. She has already started working on developing relations with most Canadian companies to allow Pascan's pilots to access Jumpseat Agreements with a wide range of different companies.

She will have exciting news for us shortly.

In unity,

Your MEC
